About EduCollective
EduCollective is a 100% free, open platform for decentralizing education worldwide. We connect schools with the real world, and make transformative education accessible to all, regardless of language, location, or background.
A living map of knowledge
Education is too important to lock behind gatekeepers. EduCollective is intentionally decentralized and non-hierarchical: there are no central authorities and no power structures between people. Everyone can contribute equally, co-create content, and start groups. Every person’s knowledge and experience has value.
The platform is, and will always remain, 100% free. It is open to everyone and built to respect your privacy: no third-party tracking fonts, no paywalls, no premium tiers. Just a shared, global effort to bring the real world into the classroom.
Who’s on EduCollective
Actors
People and organisations who share knowledge: scientists, artists, craftspeople, activists, elders, students, companies, non-profits and more. Actors list concrete activities (in person sessions and online workshops, modules, or materials) and can travel or work remotely.
Schools
Schools discover actors on a living map and post what they need. No login is required to explore. Discovery is open to everyone, everywhere.
Action Groups
Local groups where people collaboratively create educational materials for their region. A group can be in person, online, or both, and advertises its own activities the same way actors do.
How a session comes about
Find someone on the map. Filter by topic, place, language or the age group you teach. Looking around needs no account.
Write to them. Ask what you want to know, or offer what a school has said it needs.
Agree a time in the chat. When you both accept, the session lands in both calendars.
Meet, in person or online. Afterwards you can leave a review, so the next school can see how it went.

Questions people ask
- Is EduCollective free?
- Yes, and it always will be. There are no paywalls, no premium tiers and no advertising. We have never sold personal data and we never will.
- Who can join?
- Anyone whose knowledge or experience can help a classroom: teachers, scientists, artists, craftspeople, activists, elders, students, companies, non-profits and community organisations. Schools join to find them, and anyone can start an Action Group.
- Do you need an account?
- Not to look. The map and the list are open to everyone, with no login. You need a free account to be found on the map, to write a message, and to agree a time.
- Where does EduCollective work?
- Everywhere. The map is worldwide, and Action Groups are deliberately local. For an in person session, the distance that matters is the travel radius an actor sets. Online workshops, modules and materials have no distance at all.
- Do actors charge for a session?
- That is theirs to decide, and you can see it before you write. An actor can contribute voluntarily, ask for their travel costs, or charge a fee, and you can filter the map by which of the three you are looking for.
- Which languages does it work in?
- The interface is in English and German, with more languages coming. People list the languages they work in, from 124, and you can filter the map by language, so a session can happen in a language you share.
- Does EduCollective check the people on it?
- Actors can state that they hold a criminal record certificate, and their profile shows it. EduCollective does not verify that document, and every profile carrying the claim says so. Reviews are the other signal, and they say what they are worth: a review that came out of a booking made here is marked as linked to that session, and one written without a booking carries no such mark.
- What happens if something goes wrong?
- Every profile, group, activity, review and message carries a report function. You can also write to info@educollective.org. We confirm receipt, decide without undue delay, and tell you the reasons for our decision.
- What does open mean here?
- Open as in open to everyone. Anyone can join, anyone can contribute, and whatever is shared here is there for others to use rather than locked away. Looking around takes no account, and the platform is built to respect your privacy: no advertising trackers and no third-party tracking fonts.
Who builds EduCollective
EduCollective is built by EduCollective gUG (haftungsbeschränkt), a company based in Hamburg, Germany, registered at the Amtsgericht Hamburg under HRB 188080 and represented by its Managing Director, Paul Kramer. A small team works across educational development, product, software, design, partnerships and funding. You can reach us at info@educollective.org, in English or German.
